Collaboration in Safety and Sustainability
The partnership between Joulz and Voet goes back many years. In the past, we already did small jobs for each other. Now, we work together to improve our operations in the areas of safety and sustainability.
For example, Joulz turns to us for reliable emergency power generators, such as those used for hospitals, industry, and horticulture. In return, Joulz helps us deliver our generators in a more environmentally friendly way. There’s now a green alternative to diesel generators: HVO, or Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. When used in its pure form, HVO can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 89%. It’s slightly more expensive, but well worth considering. And the great thing is—a blend with regular diesel is also possible. Joulz has chosen the 100% HVO variant, but customers can decide their own HVO-to-diesel ratio, and therefore determine their own ecological footprint when renting from Voet.
Solar roof with 600 panels
But that’s not all. Voet recently built an enormous solar roof on a new facility: 600 solar panels covering 3,410 m². Of course, we couldn’t do that alone. We worked with several specialists for advice, installation, design, and construction. For the roof, precise structural calculations were made. What did we discover? It had to be able to withstand a two-meter-thick layer of snow before it would be strong and safe enough for all those solar panels. We also compared materials, arranged the transformer connection with the grid operator, applied for subsidies—and once again called in Joulz. This time for the transformer, the IV cabinet, and the metering. The great thing about Joulz is that you can always count on them for so many things.
Continuing to prove ourselves
With the solar roof, we can do an incredible amount. The maximum output is 120 kWh. That’s more than enough to operate energy-neutrally and charge all our rental products, such as battery packs, generators, and light towers. And still, there’s energy left over, which we feed back into the power grid. As a result, Voet is not just energy-neutral, but energy-positive. We’re very proud of that. We also owe our Level 3 certification on the CO₂ Performance Ladder in part to this achievement. Each year, a new audit for the CO₂ Performance Ladder is conducted by an independent body, so we must continue to prove ourselves. How? By keeping up with new developments and innovations, and acting on them in time. But above all, by building partnerships with parties who genuinely help each other.
